Spring Forward

Stepping into the New Season!

Spring is upon us! As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, we are feeling reenergized and rejuvenated in our creative endeavors. Mário Pires Cordeiro is excited to announce a brand new installation at the Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco. Additionally, we are thrilled to be opening our doors again for studio visits!

Church Configured is an evolution of the artist’s Church series, and calls back to Amplification in the work’s expansion into and interaction with the wall. This site-specific installation explores temporality in four parts: the creation of the original architectural prints in 1810, the artist’s purchase of them at a London Auction, the artist’s initial intervention on the page in 2018, and their current application to the wall. Church Configured uses 2018 and 2021 commercial paint brand color forecasts as a medium and lens through which to look at our perceptions of passing time as intimately connected to our interactions with art and architecture.

Church Configured is now being displayed at Minnesota Street Project / The Atrium until April 24th. The exhibition Reflections/Materiality was curated by Julie Casemore.

Location:  1275 Minnesota St, San Francisco, California 94107, Minnesota Street Project is open to the public. Admission is free. Tuesday—Saturday: 11am - 6pm

At the intersection of fine art and function, MPC Collectibles are pieces of high-quality art you can use in every facet of your life. Each piece is hand-crafted and locally-sourced at every step, from concept to manufacturing, screen-printing and sewing. Each Collectible series is limited edition and signed by the artist, giving it a personal touch.
We are excited to extend a promo code SPRING-FORWARD for $10 off SF NO.49 and SF NO.50 from our Cap Series. These are wearable reinventions of some of my past works, with color choices informed by theory and color trends in product design. You can add the code at checkout when you input payment and shipping information throughout the duration of the exhibition at Minnesota Street. This promotion expires at midnight (PST) on April 24th.

A Look Back

This month, we throw back to Amplification! This series experiments in using color sample cards from color forecasts in collaged installations. The pieces develop shapes explored in several different series of the artist’s and comment on the ways that the frame of an artwork acts as an extension of the work itself. In this way, these works dive deeper into the discussion of functional production vs fine art.

Amplification’s unique laser cut wooden frames are referenced and expanded upon in the artist’s new site specific installation, Church Configured.
