A Look Back
SF No. 1, Part 2, 2017, high gloss enamel spray paint on colored paper with customized frame 92 x 75 x 2 inches
SF No. 1 was created in 2017, using MPC's classic geometric imagery in a four-piece, framed arrangement. Using old spray paint from the past piece Higher, this work shows glimpses of the original color of the paper. The artist employs subtractive painting technique by sanding off a layer of spray paint. The work allows the viewer to participate in the art, choosing the composition and alignment of the four different frames. In any composition, there exists continuity between the pieces. The various shapes of the different pieces within each larger triangle align in any orientation.
